Director of the Executive Unit in Al-Jawf Discusses the Situation of IDPs with OCHA
On Tuesday, officials from the Executive Unit for Internally Displaced Persons in Jawf governorate in northern Yemen discussed ways to improve the situation of internally displaced persons in the governorate with representatives from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
The meeting was held between the director of the Executive Unit in Jawf, Hashim Thowba, and the head of the OCHA office in Aden, Saeed Harsi.
During the meeting, Thowba provided a general overview of the humanitarian situation of internally displaced persons in the governorate, and the most urgent humanitarian needs that the displaced persons lack.
The meeting also discussed the need to conduct field visits to displacement areas in the governorate to closely monitor the situation of the displaced persons and their needs, and to intervene in the education, health, protection, and all humanitarian sectors, in addition to supporting and training local organizations, and providing an emergency stockpile of shelter and shelter materials.
Thowba stressed the need to coordinate with humanitarian organizations represented by UNICEF and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to start work in Jawf governorate, and stressed the need to establish a community center to provide humanitarian services and legal and psychological support to the displaced persons in the governorate.
For his part, Harsi expressed his happiness with this meeting, which contributed to raising many points, and expressed his gratitude to the Executive Unit for their ongoing work to supervise and facilitate the provision of humanitarian assistance provided by humanitarian organizations to the displaced persons.
The meeting was attended by Rashid Al-Dubaie from the OCHA office in Aden, and Fahd Al-Faisal, the humanitarian coordinator, from the Executive Unit for Internally Displaced Persons in Jawf governorate.
