Head of EXUIDPs Meets Deputy Representative of UNHCR
The Head of the Executive Unit for IDPs, Mr. Najib Al-Saeedi, met today with the Deputy Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Yemen, Mr. Marat Atameradov, at his office in Aden.
During the meeting, Al-Saeedi welcomed Atameradov and congratulated him on his appointment in Yemen. A presentation was given about the Executive Unit and its partnership with UNHCR, highlighting past achievements and the challenges faced during the period of collaboration.
The discussion also focused on the future vision for the work of the Executive Unit, emphasizing sustainable projects and durable solutions that benefit IDPs and host communities in displacement and return areas. He further explained that, in light of the declining international funding for Yemen, all humanitarian partners must adopt a creative and innovative approach, engaging host communities, IDPs, and the private sector to create new opportunities that transform displacement into a path for success rather than a burden.
Mr. Marat, the Deputy Representative, presented several innovative experiences implemented in different countries and expressed his willingness to work accordingly, aiming to turn IDPs into a productive force contributing to the country’s stability and development.
Mr. Atameradov also expressed his gratitude to the Executive Unit for its pivotal role in addressing the displacement issue and its dedicated efforts in this regard, emphasizing that collaborative efforts will help enhance and improve operational mechanisms.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed Rafiq Nasri, Head of the UNHCR Office, and Mr. Moammar Alwan, Field Officer, from UNHCR. From the Executive Unit, Mr. Abdu Mohtheb, Director of Branches and Camps Management, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansari, Director of Information Systems, and Dr. Abdul Nasser Naqeeb, Director of Planning and Durable Solutions, were present.
