Government Delegation Visiting IDP Camps in Lahj Praises Executive Unit Efforts
In accordance with the directives of the Prime Minister, Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik, and Eng. Muti Dammaj, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, a government team from the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers visited the Executive Unit for IDPS in Lahj Governorate to view and evaluate the work of the Executive Unit. Also they aimed to see the IDP situation and the level of services provided by international organizations to them.
The team, made up of Mr. Redman Zuqari, Head of the Civil Society and Human Rights Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and Mr. Mohammed Abdulhamid, Head of the Local Authority Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers accompanied by the Head of the Executive Unit, Mr. Nageeb Al-Sady, viewed the work of the Executive Unit and its role in the Governorate during their visit.
The team also observed the IDP conditions in Rebat and Garad camps, and the ongoing arrangements for relocation of Al-Baytrah camp which is located on the (Abyar Nasser) Nassers’ wells water basin. Accordingly, Al-Baytrah camp will be transferred to Al-Huta District outside the water basin to avoid any water contamination.
The Head of the Executive Unit in the Governorate, Mr. Omar Al-Samati, explained to the government delegation about the efforts exerted by the Executive Unit and the most important needs and challenges facing its work.
The team praised the work and efforts exerted by the Executive Unit in the field to alleviate the suffering of displaced persons and coordinate humanitarian action. They also stressed the need to provide services to displaced persons and it is necessary that the organizations adopt sustainable projects in partnership with government entities.
